Artist’s Statement
I strive to create landscape paintings that draw the viewer into a peaceful moment in time. Finding inspiration in the beauty of nature whether the lush green farms and quaint small towns near my home, exploring the mountains, or at the beach. I’m captivated by light reflecting on water, the swirl of waves, luminous or stormy clouds, the ever-changing atmosphere, simply amazed at all the beauty God has surrounded us with.
Painting a still life allows me to focus on the beauty and wonder of everyday objects, both natural and man-made. Sometimes we need to appreciate the everyday that we tend to miss in our busy lives.
I studied at The Louisville School of Art in the late 1970’s. In 1980 I began painting in oils and for several years apprenticed under the late Mary Louise Schrodt in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1985, I received a degree from Central Academy of Commercial Art, in Cincinnati, Ohio. I take workshops from artists I admire.Exhibitions
